Bergamo, 10 September 2026 – Aruba, one of Italy’s leading companies in the cloud, data centre and digital services sector and the operator of the .cloud Top Level Domain (TLD), has applied for 39 new top-level domains as part of ICANN’s 2026 new gTLD round.
The 2026 round marks only the second time that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has opened applications for new generic Top Level Domains, the extensions appearing at the end of internet addresses, such as .com, or .org. Aruba successfully applied for .cloud during the previous ICANN round, becoming the only Italian Registry to operate a new gTLD.
The group is active across the domain name ecosystem. As a registry, Aruba has relationships with accredited registrars and partners globally. As a registrar, Aruba works directly with consumer and enterprise end users for domain registration, domain brand protection, and a full suite of website, email, hosting, and cloud services to support domain use.
The new applications follow months of strategic evaluation and are designed to address a wide range of markets, communities and use cases. The proposed portfolio includes extensions linked to technology and digital services, Trust Services and specific industry sectors, as well as geographic, wellness and everyday-language terms.
The 39 applied-for strings reflect this diversified approach and can be grouped across several key areas:
